Leaked Report Shows the Pentagon’s ‘Countering Extremism Working Group’ is Considering a Partnership with the ADL and SPLC

Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin announced on April 9 that the Pentagon would start a Countering Extremism Working Group to root out so-called extremists from the Armed Forces.
The group has assembled a team of bipartisan authorities to provide consult on different extremist operations. Two of these authorities are the Southern Poverty Law Center and the Anti-Defamation League, organizations that lobby Congress to destroy the 1st Amendment and push tech giants to institute Big Brother censorship.
“The Countering Extremism Working Group (CEWG) would like to partner with experts on counter extremism and counter terrorism to better understand the scope of the problem and inform the 90-day report for the Secretary of Defense. These experts may come from advocacy groups, academia, and other areas that contribute the to the fight against terrorism,” an internal document obtained by The Intercept states.
Two of the conservative groups added to the CEWG to supposedly balance things out would be the Middle East Media Research Institute and First Liberty Institute. That the Pentagon would even attempt to provide a facade of an even-handed proceeding has outraged the Far Left.
“While it is unclear which of the individuals or groups mentioned in the Pentagon document will end up consulting, there are signs that some already have been doing so,” The Intercept reporter Ken Klippenstein wrote of the CEWG document they obtained.
Big League Politics has reported on the nefarious influence of groups like the SPLC and ADL in the past on the federal government:
“The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) is using the January 6 Capitol siege to justify its belief that domestic terrorism is a significant threat which requires a “whole of society” mobilization—that is, a collusion of Big Tech with federal and state governments—against it.
Along with the release of its annual “Murder and Extremism in the U.S.” report, the ADL has asked the Biden administration to “convene a Preventing Domestic Terrorism Summit bringing together state, federal and private sector officials,” according to the Times of Israel, which disingenuously used a picture from the August 2017 Unite The Right rally in Charlottesville, VA, in their story, thus implicitly comparing out-of-line Trump supporters with white nationalists, neo-Nazis, and the so-called “alt-right.”
“On January 6, Americans watched as an insurrection fueled by violent conspiracy theories and white supremacy gripped the nation and attacked our democracy,” the ADL’s policy recommendations section of the report read. “This was a predictable act of political violence fueled by years of increasing extremism; the forces that led to the attack on our Capitol continue to pose a threat to American security and democracy.”
Their PROTECT Plan is an acronym of the following prescriptions:
- Prioritize “preventing and countering” domestic terrorism
- Resource according to the threat
- Oppose extremists in government service
- Take domestic terrorism prevention measures
- End the “complicity of social media” in facilitating extremism
- Create an “independent clearinghouse” of extremist content
- Target “foreign white supremacist terrorist groups”
The ADL is also calling for greater coordination between federal and state governments in identifying threats and greater accountability of social media companies like Facebook and Twitter.”
If the feds wanted to curb extremism, they might start with groups like the SPLC and ADL who preach extreme positions against the 1st Amendment.
