NCAA Changes Trans Policy After A Man Dominates Women’s UPenn Swim

The NCAA has announced changes to its policies regarding men participating in women’s sports following a Board of Governors meeting Wednesday, Swimming World reported. The changes apparently might affect Lia Thomas’ ability to participate in female swim competitions. Thomas is a male swimmer who recently began competing in and dominating races with the opposite sex.

BLP has covered the male athlete prior, who in the past allegedly bragged that beating female competitors was “so easy I was cruising.”

In accordance with the NCAA, the new college policy will adhere to international athletic standards surrounding when men can play in women’s sports.

Like the Olympics, the updated NCAA policy calls for transgender participation for each sport to be determined by the policy for the national governing body of that sport, subject to ongoing review and recommendation by the NCAA Committee on Competitive Safeguards and Medical Aspects of Sports to the Board of Governors. If there is no NGB policy for a sport, that sport’s international federation policy would be followed. If there is no international federation policy, previously established IOC policy criteria would be followed.

Nobody from the NCAA has clarified whether or not the new changes would affect the aftermentioned male swimmer Lia Thomas or the University of Pennsylvania swim team.

Thomas has crushed the competition since joining the female swim team, setting a new 500 freestyle Ivy League record this past season and also winning the female record in the 200 freestyle, creating an all-time record that likely will never be beaten by a true woman. His participation in the women’s matches has not faired without controversy, even causing teammates of the swimmer to consider boycotting the team’s final meet in protest of the seemingly ridiculous policy.

“Well, obviously, she’s No. 1 in the country because she’s at a clear physical advantage after having gone through male puberty and getting to train with testosterone for years,” an anonymous teammate previously said of Thomas’ new records. “Of course, you’re No. 1 in the country when you’re beating a bunch of females. That’s not something to brag about.”
