Netflix ‘Cheer’ Star, Joe Biden Surrogate Charged With Producing Child Pornography After Federal Raid
A Netflix star who has appeared in digital campaign events as a Joe Biden surrogate has been charged with producing child pornography, just days after federal law enforcement raided his Illinois residence on suspicion that Jerry Harris was engaging in sexually explicit messaging with minors.
Harris is known for appearing on Netflix’s Cheer documentary, which details the competitive cheerleading world. Harris had appeared with Joe Biden in a digital campaign interview with the auspices of turning out the youth vote in June.
Harris’ arrest comes just days after Netflix itself became embroiled in controversy over the publication of the film Cuties, which depicts prepubescent girls in a highly sexualized manner. Many opponents of child exploitation have cancelled their subscriptions to Netflix on account of the film.
A federal criminal complaint filed in the US District Court of Chicago alleges that the 21-year old Harris “enticed an underage boy to produce sexually explicit videos and photos of himself.” The boy is described as being only 13 years old.
Harris is also being accused of child sexual abuse in civil lawsuits filed by two alleged victims earlier this week. The plaintiffs allege that Harris requested sexual photographs from them when they were respectively 13 and 14 years old.
Netflix quite clearly has some serious institutional and cultural issues. Joe Biden needs to immediately disavow his supporter- who he appeared with in a lengthy campaign interview- for what appears to be a pattern of child sexual abuse.
