CNN Prime Time Viewership PLUMMETS Below Newsmax Days After Trump Town Hall
In more troubling news for flailing CNN, the network’s primetime ratings fell below conservative cable station Newsmax on Friday.
According to a Mediaite report: “After 8 p.m. on Friday night, no CNN show rated above 300,000 viewers and Newsmax beat the network from 8 to p.m.”
“Who’s Talking to Chris Wallace at 10 p.m. marked its lowest-rated hour since it launched on the network and dropped 25 percent since its Friday debut,” the outlet added.
CNN placed 4th behind post-Tucker Fox and MSNBC on Friday. With especially poor ratings for ship jumper Chris Wallance.
Notably, Newsmax did not lead in the key demographic of 25 to 40-year-olds. Instead maintaining an older average audience compared to the other ranked outlets.
In other words, it would appear that many who used to choose Fox have made a switch to Newsmax following the Tucker Carlson controversy.
Former President Donald Trump’s CNN town hall performance last week gave CNN a massive bump in viewership, but it also alienated its never-Trump base.
As Big League Politics reported, Trump held the line on key topics like Jan. 6 and election fraud by making salient points. In addition to being his usual charismatic and amusing self.
CNN’s town hall with Donald Trump beat the cable news competition, as expected, with an average of 3.12 million viewers, according to early Nielsen numbers https://t.co/CWltbrERZt

From Deadline:
CNN’s town hall with Donald Trump brought in 3.3 million viewers, enough for the network to beat its cable news rivals in the time slot and in primetime.
According to final Nielsen numbers, Fox News delivered 1.45 million viewers, and MSNBC posted 1.4 million.
Among adults 25-54, CNN averaged 781,000, compared to 160,000 for MSNBC and 140,000 for Fox News.
With live digital streaming factored in, the audience for the town hall rose to 3.41 million, according to CNN.
The network also scored a rare primetime win, drawing an average of 2.29 million viewers, compared to 1.68 million for Fox News and 1.46 million for MSNBC. This was CNN’s best primetime showing since the midterms
The mainstream media – along with CNN fans and company insiders – quickly blasted the network for hosting Trump. With many vowing to never watch or support the network ever again in protest of the stunt.
Couldn't watch Trump's townhall as it was on too late for me, but based on the reaction from left-wing media peeps, it seems this backfired bigly for CNN pic.twitter.com/plVWaBpQER

Jake Tapper is whining because Trump was on fire tonight and everyone in the audience loved it.pic.twitter.com/vaWGbOmaRe

Perhaps CNN’s short-term win in viewership by hosting Trump will ultimately be its downfall because now, the network is tanking in viewership amongst the left AND the right. A total disaster!
