DHS Orders Michelle Malkin to Pay Thousands of Dollars for Details about Right-Wing Dissidents on No Fly List

Best-selling author Michelle Malkin is attempting to get records pertaining to the addition of right-wing pundits Nick Fuentes and Lauren Witzke to the federal no-fly list, but the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is giving her the run-around.

Malkin filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request demanding information from DHS on why these dissidents were placed on the no-fly list. DHS Government Information Specialist Michael Tobias responded with a demand for Malkin to pay thousands of dollars for the information.

“To search for records of this request, it would take a combined search time of 162 hours,” Tobias claimed. “We estimate the costs of $4,536 for the continued processing of your request.”

They added that “fee estimates that exceed $250 may require that the requester make an advance payment up to the amount of the entire anticipated fee before beginning to process the request.”

“If you agree to this fee assessment, we are requesting an advance payment of fifty percent (50%) of the entire current anticipated fee, which is $2,268,” he stated.

“If we do not receive your fee agreement within 30 business days of the date of this email, which is June 28, 2021, we will administratively close out your requests,” Tobias added.

Of course, even if Malkin were to comply with the ridiculous fee, there would be no guarantee for her to receive any pertinent information. The DHS and other deep state agencies are notorious for redacting documents to the point of insulting the intelligence of the requester and the general public when releasing data on FOIA requests.

Big League Politics reported on Fuentes being added to the no-fly list shortly after participating in a peaceful protest outside of the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6:

Paleoconservative video blogger Nick Fuentes has transformed from an incendiary pundit to a potential civil rights hero after he was placed on the federal no fly list for appearing at the mostly-peaceful protest outside of the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6.

And conservatives are finally taking notice.

The host of ‘America First Live’ is receiving mainstream support from the conservative movement, something that has eluded Fuentes as gatekeepers box him out from the political mainstream…

Big League Politics has reported about the rise of Fuentes, his successful conferences featuring Congressional lawmakers, and the formation of his America First Foundation to promote nationalist principles…

Fuentes will continue to be a rising figure in the American right as Republicans increasingly demand leadership with actual courage after four years of Trump.”

Malkin’s crusade for transparency should be applauded by free speech advocates nationwide. Sadly, most of them are silent as America continues its downward spiral into oblivion.
