Romney, Rubio Hack Weaseled Way Onto Trump Transition Team, Now Pushing Impeachment
A 2016 campaign staffer for Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) who weaseled his way onto President Donald J. Trump’s transition team, called for Trump’s impeachment in a piece published by leftist magazine The Atlantic.
“The question I feared inevitably opened the interview: ‘How do you feel about Donald Trump?’ I could not honestly say I admired him. While working on Senator Marco Rubio’s primary campaign, I had watched Trump throw schoolyard nicknames at him,” said law professor J.W. Verret.
Verret is the perfect embodiment of the GOP establishment. A weak law school professor (having been to law school, I can assure you, there’s no such thing as a strong one) who would rather lose politely to the progressive left than actually conserve anything. The same establishment would rather bow to an obvious conspiracy theory about “Russian collusion” than fight back.
Later in his piece, Verret would call for the impeachment of Trump, presumably earning himself an “atta boy” from his friends on the political left, and ensuring his invitation to the next round of cocktail parties with his fellow academics – until the leftist rage mob inevitably comes for him too.
But more pertinently, the piece shows how the Trump administration has been compromised by Washington, D.C. types who hate Trump since before he was even elected.
Despite knowing that he hated the candidate, the former Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah) transition team member weaseled his way into a spot on Trump’s transition team. Those teams are chosen by each party’s presidential nominee before the election.
“I gave the only honest answer I could: ‘I admire the advisers he’s chosen, like Larry Kudlow and David Malpass, and I admire his choice of VP.’ That did the trick. I got the impression they’d heard that one before. I was one of the first 16 members of Trump’s transition team, as deputy director of economic policy,” Verret said.
One America News’ Ryan James Girdusky has documented the flow of NeverTrumpers into the Trump administration at great length. Former Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen was one of them, and significantly impeded Trump’s immigration objectives during her tenure.
The entirety of the elected GOP establishment is working against Trump, too.
The National Republican Senate Committee is preparing to spend $50 million against Republicans in 2020. Weak Republicans like Romney and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) worshipped the late John McCain, who promulgated the “Russian collusion” hoax from the start.
Despite the will of the American people, the elite in D.C. simply refuse to implement the Trump agenda. Instead, they oppose him at every turn.
