Biden Laughs At “Disastrous State Of Economy” During WH Correspondents’ Dinner

On Saturday night, for the first time in over two years, official Washington gathered for the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.

Unsurprisingly, President Joe Biden used his time at the podium to take shots at Republicans, particularly those in Congress who have been critical of his handling of the economy.

“I know I’ve been called an economic populist,” Biden said. “Well, let me tell you something: I’m not going to apologize for fighting to make sure working families get a fair shake.”

Of course, Biden also made sure to mock Trump during his speech, calling the former president a “horrible plague.”

The only thing surprising about the evening was that Biden made it through in one piece – and a little more put together than expected.

Biden’s arrogance was notably the biggest takeaway for conservatives, who criticized the president for ignoring the real problems facing the nation today.

For example, Trevor Noah, the host of “The Daily Show,” was the headliner for the event. At one point Noah said to Biden: “Since you’ve come into office, things are really looking up. Gas is up, rent is up, food is up!”

Then Biden laughs and claps. As if making life harder for everyday Americans is something to joke about – which sounds especially out-of-touch when coming from a room filled with elites.

Lauren Boebert weighed in on this observation too, saying in a tweet: “Now you know without any doubt that Biden quite literally laughs at the disastrous state of our economy.”

Others focused on the many hypocrisies of the event. Like how no one (besides the waiters and waitresses) wore a mask despite Jen Psaki recommending everyone continue masking on planes just 10 days ago.

Of course, many in the corporate press gave Biden praise for his performance at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.

For instance, Yahoo! News gave Biden credit for being able to “laugh at himself.” While The Washington Post said Biden’s remarks were “self-deprecating” and “humorous.” They also had the audacity to call the event a “triumphant return.”

The media drew two narratives from the dinner, with the first being that Biden can make fun of himself. And the second showcases Biden’s appreciation for free speech in America.

The latter is obviously an attempt to make good on all the backlash Biden has received in the past week since announcing his ministry of truth.

Even CNN chimed in to praise America’s freedom of the press.

In the end, the event was a clear reminder that there are two very different Americas. One where everyday citizens are struggling to make ends meet. And another where the elites sit back and laugh at their problems.
