Chief Justice Roberts Orders Investigation To Identify Source Of Leak

Chief Justice John Roberts has called for an investigation into the recently leaked draft opinion by the U.S. Supreme Court that reveals intentions to overturn the highly controversial 1973 Roe v. Wade case, which curtailed the right of states to regulate abortion within their borders. 

This is the first time in modern history that this has happened. Draft decisions are never leaked while cases are still pending. And Roberts is clearly concerned about the betrayal, ordering the Marshal of the Court to investigate the origins of the leak.

The leaked document contained harsh rebukes for the Roe ruling that were written by Justice Samuel Alito. Alito explained the faults in the decision:

Even though the Constitution makes no mention of abortion, the Court held that it confers a broad right to obtain one. It did not claim that American law or the common law had ever recognized such a right, and its survey of history ranged from the constitutionally irrelevant (e.g., its discussion of abortion in antiquity) to the plainly incorrect (e.g., its assertion that abortion was probably never a crime under the common law).

In the leaked draft, Alito definitively wrote that, “We hold that Roe and Casey must be overruled.” The court’s decision to overturn Roe v Wade would correct the recognition of abortion as a constitutional right protected by the federal government, returning the responsibility of regulating the barbaric act to the states.

Politico first printed the leaked opinion, and they described the draft as an “unflinching repudiation of the 1973 decision.” According to their report, Justice Clarence Thomas, Justice Brett Kavanaugh, Justice Neil Gorsuch and Justice Amy Coney Barrett are all in agreement with Alito in plans to overturn Roe, indicating a major upcoming victory for Pro-Life Americans and for the Trump administration — with the former president having placed three of these five justices on the bench.

President Joe Biden has jumped at the opportunity to lean on the court in an attempt to alter their legal judgment, declaring that the “basic fairness and stability of our law” depend on reaffirming the Roe decision, despite its incorrect ruling. The president also issued what can only be interpreted as a threat directed at the court, adding that, “We will be ready when any ruling is issued.” The statement is an attempt to blackmail the court, with the memory of Biden’s threat to pack the court still fresh in many justices’ minds.

Attacking the Supreme Court is already rallying the left. They will seek to delegitimize the court if the ruling doesn’t go their way. The Biden administration seemed to be prioritizing that move only last year, and the leak of this draft opinion will certainly renew calls in Congress to rearrange the rules to favor their unhinged and destructive plans for the country.

The clear purpose of this leak, and the end to which politicians and members of the media will use it, is to amass public opposition to the court before the ruling, and to use pressure to subvert what should be a legal decision. Already, hundreds have gathered in front of the Supreme Court to protest the accurate interpretation of the Constitution. And leftist terrorist groups are now organizing online, offering tips to evade identification for whatever activities they may involve themselves in.

Where the left stands depends entirely on where they sit. Now, the institution solely responsible for the federal enforcement of abortion rights on states is now being attacked by those who were, only a short time ago, the self-proclaimed defenders of “our democracy” and the “sanctity of our institutions.”

The entire foundation for abortion rights in the United States was created in words not found in the U.S. Constitution. The genesis of the “penumbra of privacy” that the court’s ruling stands on is an imaginary term devised by activist judges to subvert our nation’s legal system. And, finally, we have a court willing to recognize that fact.

What this leak has done is negate the objectivity of the bench. The entire reason that justices are given lifetime appointments is to shield them from the whims of public opinion in favor of making decisions based on the Constitution. But, as a result of this leak, expect the kind of sustained temper tantrum we’ve seen in the past directed toward the court’s justices.

The left is not interested in fairness, legality or morality when it is not of use to them. And, this being the case, they are — again — attempting to change the rules of a game they never intended on playing in good faith. They are cheating, shaking the table to gain an advantage on the board.

So, it is essential that the cause for this leak, whether it be a leaker or a compromised email server, be identified. This is about more than punishing those responsible; it is about not allowing these political games to continue. Because to allow this assault on our democracy to go unpunished would be to assure future attacks on the sanctity of our institutions.
