Illegal Alien Kills U.S. Citizen in Drunk Driving Crash

Another preventable crime leads to senseless tragedy.

An illegal alien living in Texas killed an unsuspecting U.S. citizen in a drunk driving crash Saturday.

“According to Bexar County officials, Jesus Abraham Gonzalez-Moreno, 26, faces four charges of intoxication assault, one DWI and one illegal entry charge,” said NBC4.

Gonzalez-Moreno allegedly killed 58-year-old Keith Kephart, who died from his injuries Monday night. There were reportedly three others in the vehicle with Kephart at the time of the crash.

“The Sheriff’s office tells us Kephart and his family were heading to church around 9 a.m. Sunday when Gonzalez-Moreno veered into oncoming traffic in the 24000 block of Pleasanton Road,” the report said.

Last month, an illegal alien in California suspected of killing three people while driving under the influence was booked into jail, but subsequently released on bail. Another illegal alien, who killed two in a drunk driving crash in Oregon, received only a 12-year prison sentence last week, angering the victims’ families. In May, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement used drunk driving records to arrest 141 illegal aliens in Massachusetts.

While the preventable deaths pile up, Washington D.C. has been slow to curb illegal immigration.

Big League Politics reported:

President Donald J. Trump has declared a national state of emergency, for which several heavily-blue states immediately sued his administration. Democrats refuse to budge on the issue, unwilling to secure America’s borders. As illegal border crossings surge, they blocked a meaningful amount of wall funding in the 2019 federal budget.

In what many conservatives see as a colossal failure, the Republican Congress, led by former Speaker Paul Ryan, current Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, failed to deliver wall funding to the president’s desk during all of 2017 and 2018, when Republicans held the House, the Senate, and the White House.

Gov. Ron DeSantis Puts Anti-E-Verify Republicans On Notice

Some Republicans want to water down the proposal.

As a battle over a strong statewide E-Verify law heats up in Tallahassee, Florida Governor Rick DeSantis is cautioning Republicans who seek to neuter the law over the ire they’ll face from conservative voters.

Florida is set to pass a E-Verify law that will prevent businesses from hiring illegal immigrants as workers. Currently in the Florida Senate committee process, big business interests are seeking to institute special exemptions for industries that commonly hire illegals.

DeSantis is pushing back hard against the effort to put free passes in the legislation for the agricultural industry. Another area of contention is over the law’s enforcement mechanism. Elements seeking to neuter the Florida E-Verify system want employers to merely promise they aren’t hiring illegals, as opposed to making them definitively prove it.

DeSantis was clear about warning Republicans who try to neuter the e-Verify proposal when speaking to the press outside of the state capital on Wednesday.

DeSantis’ warning to Republicans who tacitly support giveaways of cheap labor and non-enforcement of immigration law should be taken seriously by any legislator who considers themselves a conservative, and relies upon a conservative constituency.

Senator Tom Lee, who represents Florida’s 20th district, is cautioning that Governor DeSantis could veto the entire bill and force lawmakers to start over if they stuff it full of exemptions for scofflaw big business interests. He says that the effort to make employers merely promise to hire illegals is no different than instituting an impotent “honor system.”

The law currently will mandate that businesses in Florida verify their employees’ legal status by July of 2022.
